AIP webinar to cover NZ packaging developments

The fourth AIP State of Industry webinar is scheduled for 16 July and will focus on packaging developments in New Zealand.

Hosted by the Packaging Forum, this season will cover recent changes in kerbside collection regulations, new product stewardship programs, including caps and lids and food and beverage carton recycling (FBCRS), and the expansion of soft plastics recycling.

Rob Langford, CEO of the Packaging Forum New Zealand, will be the featured speaker.

Participation in AIP webinars contributes points towards the Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) designation. Interested individuals are encouraged to register and share the event details with colleagues.

Senate rejects “flawed” food donations tax-offset bill

The Senate Economics Committee has rejected the Food Donations Bill that proposed a tax offset for companies donating excess food to food relief agencies rather than dumping it. While the bill had the potential to deliver the equivalent of 100 million meals to food relief organisations, the committee said it had “serious concerns” including the bill’s “generous” tax concessions. Food relief agencies and social welfare organisations have questioned the committee’s decision to reject the bill outright rather than make recommendations for amendments.
