The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this September with a rooftop dinner at the Crown Aviary, Melbourne.

The anniversary dinner will take place beneath the Melbourne skyline, with views of the city and the Yarra River framed by rooftop gardens. Crown Aviary offers a "breathtaking one-of-a-kind rooftop experience like no other", right in the heart of Melbourne. The dinner menu will be curated by award-winning executive chef, Kelly Jackson.

The formal dinner will take place on Friday 1 September, at 6:30pm. The price is $195 per person, or $1560 for a table of eight (both +GST).

The AIP has also coordinated discounted rates for accommodation at the Crown Promenade, and a number of other hotels within walking distance.

The Senate Economics Committee has rejected the Food Donations Bill that proposed a tax offset for companies donating excess food to food relief agencies rather than dumping it. While the bill had the potential to deliver the equivalent of 100 million meals to food relief organisations, the committee said it had “serious concerns” including the bill’s “generous” tax concessions. Food relief agencies and social welfare organisations have questioned the committee’s decision to reject the bill outright rather than make recommendations for amendments.
