The Victorian beer brand Furphy will now be available in a can format.

Furphy Refreshing Ale was launched in 2014 and is brewed in Little Creatures Geelong Brewery using only Victorian ingredients sourced from local regions such as Wimmera and Eurobin.

The beer is currently available in bottles and on tap across Victoria, but the product will also be released in cans from late-April.

The company said the demand for cans had been growing, and the Geelong brewery now has the capacity to produce this format.

Furphy pays tribute to the Furphy family of Shepparton, Victoria, who produced water tanks and delivered fresh water supplies to Australian Army personnel during World War I.

Marked with the trademark ‘J. Furphy & Sons’, the tanks became popular gathering points where soldiers exchanged stories, gossip and rumours – much like today’s water cooler conversations.

Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has warned it will take a significant non-cash impairment against its Americas business, with the company preparing to write off at least all US goodwill valued at $687.4 million as at June 2025.

Maggie Beer Holdings (MBH) chair Mark Lindh has used the company’s 2025 AGM to lay out a clearer path for stabilising and rebuilding the business, telling shareholders the group has “earned the right to grow” after a year of intense restructuring, cost-cutting and strategic refocus.

Winners of the 63rd annual Australian Export Awards were announced in Canberra on 26 November, featuring several food and beverage industry success stories – including Marquis Macadamias, Almondco Australia, and Munda Wines.
