Australian-based reusable coffee cup brand, Huskee, has partnered with waste management service RecycleSmart, to offer individuals, cafes and businesses another convenient way to give HuskeeCups a second life.

Customers can now easily book a pickup with RecycleSmart to return their HuskeeCups responsibly. They may also have other tricky and bulky items they might have around the house picked up during the service.

Huskee’s current cup exchange program, HuskeeSwap, and end-of-life recycling program, HuskeeLoop, will continue operating unchanged.

"Every product reaches the end of its usable lifespan, even reusable cups. But sadly, most cannot be kerbside recycled." said Michael McFarlane, head of sales and marketing at Huskee.

"As well as offering beautiful reusable products made from recycled waste materials, we are committed to offering simple solutions that help consumers reduce waste and keep products out of landfill. This latest partnership with RecycleSmart will help us do just that.

"Since Huksee's inception, 1258kg or over 10,000 end of life cups have been returned in Australia alone through the HuskeeLoop program and we’re hoping to increase that number with this additional at-home pickup service."

According to Giorgio Baracchi, CEO at RecycleSmart, the company is "excited to partner" with a brand that considers the entire lifecycle of its products, including end-of-life, such as Huskee.

"This fits perfectly with our mission to power last-mile logistics, making it easy and convenient for cafes, businesses, and individuals to close the loop," Baracchi said.

To participate in RecycleSmart, prices start from $15 for two bags (roughly 40x40x20cm) for a one off on-demand pickup. However, if you are a resident of a participating council partner you can set up free collections.
