Queensland-based CapsulePack has provided Jasper Coffee with biodegradable and compostable coffee capsules for the launch of its at-home coffee range.
CapsulePack is a local manufacturer, which develops coffee pods that are compatible with Nespresso and Lavazza Blue coffee machines.
The capsules are hermetically sealed, achieved by a built-in plant-based oxygen barrier, and will fully break down in 10 weeks, leaving behind only biomass, carbon dioxide and water.
Its latest work is with Victoria’s Jasper Coffee, a company committed to maintaining a carbon neutral model for the business.
“We’ve always been conscious of the waste to landfill issue associated with the typical capsule. Our commitment to sustainability has always been at the forefront of our business, meaning we did not want to be associated with a range of products causing environmental damage,” Jasper Coffee director Wells Trenfield said.
“Instead of jumping on the market shelf wagon, we’ve patiently waited for the release of the compostable materials supplied by CapsulePack, in order to produce a quality product that provides a sustainable alternative for our loyal customer base.”
Three blends from Jasper Coffee will now take capsule form, including The Jude, with taste nuances of spiced figs nougat; The Scotty, with taste nuances of sweet plum cocoa; and Midnight, with taste nuances of dense prunes shiraz chocolate.
The new biodegradable coffee capsule range is now available online and in Jasper Coffee cafes across Victoria.
