Beverage manufacturer Made’s latest product, ReMilk, is a 100 per cent lactose free dairy milk, with half the sugar and 50 per cent more protein, packaged in Tetra Pak's Tetra Rex cartons.

In a category experiencing ongoing disruption from plant-based alternatives and the perpetual growth of the better-for-me category, Made co-founder and joint CEO Luke Marget said they found a gap in the market.

Australians consume an average of 75 litres of milk every year, but Marget said many consumers don’t know how much sugar is in it, even though it is naturally occurring.

“A switch to ReMilk would allow someone to remove 1.7 kilograms of sugar from their diet every year,” he said.

The company is using an Australian-first patent-pending cold filtration technology with locally sourced milk to rebalance the protein and sugar content and remove the lactose.

With Made committed to reducing its carbon footprint, ReMilk is packaged in Tetra Pak’s fully recyclable bio-based Tetra Rex cartons.

The packaging is made entirely from plant-based, renewable materials. The first layer is paperboard made with wood fibres sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forests and other controlled sources. Then two protective layers, derived from sugarcane, line either side of the paperboard.

The bio-based packages offer a more sustainable alternative to standard milk cartons and reduces the reliance on fossil-based polyethylene plastic in the lining.

ReMillk joines Western Australia’s Browne’s Dairy in adopting the Tetra Pak carton, with Browne’s moving to the range in 2019, and more recently adopting the unbleached version of the cartons.

ReMilk is available in a 1L bottle in both full cream and light options at Woolworths and select independent retailers across Australia.
