Independent brand and design agency Hulsbosch has won first place and silver in two international design awards in the US and UK for its Coles Own Brand confectionery redesign.

The Sydney-based studio won first place in the Dieline Awards, one of the USA’s largest international packaging design competitions, which had entries from 23 countries. It also won silver in the packaging design category in the UK’s FAB Awards, which focuses on creative work for food and beverage brands.

The Own Brand confectionery range has a number of faces on pack to evoke a certain personality and flavour cue for each product, and bold colours to enhance easy product recognition.

“It is a great honour to be internationally awarded for our achievements and we thank Dieline and the FAB Awards for the recognition,” said Hulsbosch director Jaid Hulsbosch.

“Our sweet, suite of designs was delivered by a talented team here at Hulsbosch. But it was our productive collaboration with Coles that really set off our strategic and creative direction.”

Coles Own Brand head of marketing Belinda Anderson thanked the Hulsbosch team for its “world-class design”, with the team thrilled with the result.

“To win awards in the US and UK is an outstanding achievement. Congratulations to Jaid and the team,” said Anderson.

As PKN previously reported, the packs first started making their way onto shelves in March 2019, with the full redesign of the range available in Coles stores nationwide since September.
