Sydney-based design agency Depot has won a 2018 German Design Award for its packaging for Baré Alchemy facial serums.

This follows its 2017 Silver A’ Design award for the rejuvenation of the international Sisidyll skin care range.

Depot's work with Jacobs Coffee was also acknowledged in A’ Design's Top 20 favourite design projects of the past two years.

Depot director Angela Spindler credited the win to an "excellent collaboration" with Sydney-based industrial design house Vert Design, led by Andrew Simpson.

“We worked closely with Andrew to create a unique bottle form and new delivery system aimed at disrupting the category,” Spindler said.

“We wanted to create a well-crafted and well-considered sense of luxury, which is vital in this segment of the skin care category.

“The packaging reflects nature’s inner workings in a very transparent and vivid way, captured through material usage, a frosted glass bottle, a leaf-shaped dropper, and the brilliant radiographic images by Steven N Meyers.”

The German Design Award is the top international prize of the German Design Council, and this year attracted more than 5000 entries.

The German award win caps off a stream of wins for Depot’s work for Baré Alchemy, including a gold in the Creativity International Awards.

MEQ CEO, Remo Carbone, writes.
