The Australasian Institute of Packaging (AIP) is hosting a webinar titled Unboxing Accessible Packaging on Tuesday, 3 December 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 am AEDT.

Held online via Zoom, the session will explore the need for accessible packaging designs that accommodate a broad range of user abilities and contribute to reducing food waste and injury risks.

The webinar highlights how inclusive packaging can add value by addressing the needs of consumers with disabilities, reduced strength, or dexterity, as well as busy, on-the-go users like working parents.

The AIP emphasises that inaccessible packaging can act as a barrier, particularly for the 3.6 million Australians living with arthritis and the ageing population, limiting their ability to carry out essential daily tasks independently.

In the session, participants will hear insights from consumers living with disabilities and learn about practical resources to support the creation of inclusive packaging solutions. The event will feature Alexandra Brayshaw, accessible design manager at Arthritis Australia’s Accessible Design Division, as the guest speaker. Panelists include Pierre Pienaar, education director at AIP, and Ralph Moyle, education coordinator at AIP, who will discuss strategies to create inclusive packaging.
