ABB will be demonstrating the latest innovations in robotic technology for standard industrial robots and collaborative robots (cobots) for packaging applications in industries including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and logistics, on Stand B075.

Experience live examples of the different advantages provided by both industrial and collaborative robots to meet today’s increasing demand for performance, and conformance with safety standards.

This will also be the first time ABB’s GoFa 10 robot will be exhibited in Australia, displaying its capabilities of 10kg payload and 1.5m reach in a palletising application. GoFa 10 is also IP67 and cleanroom certified.

The ABB stand will also have on display what the company is calling “the world’s fastest palletising robot” - IRB 460; the IRB 1100, which is capable of up to 70 cycles per minute; the GoFa 5, a 5kg payload cobot that will be demonstrating a case packing and tray loading application at the show; and Australia’s market-leading, high-speed Delta robot for pick and place applications up to 120 cycles per minute, the IRB 360 FlexPicker.

Stop by to also see ABB’s high efficiency motors, the Synchronous Reluctance (SynRM), which deliver 30 per cent energy savings and up to 25 per cent cost savings when upgrading from a traditional motor.

The EC Titanium will also be on show, which are an IE5 integrated motor drive enabling lower energy use with sustainable components, ideal for applications requiring variable speed.

And finally, visit ABB’s stand to discover the ACS180 machinery drive, a compact and all-compatible drive designed for reliable machine operations and essential application control for practically everything in processing and packaging.

Visit ABB at Stand B075. APPEX is taking place on 12-15 March at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. Free registration is open now.

A national network for young grape and wine professionals has been launched, set to foster the next generation of winemakers, viticulturists, cellar door staff, wine judges and other roles in Australia’s wine sector.

A new bill was introduced to Parliament on 19 November, which offers a framework for regulating the sale or importation of organic goods in Australia, and stronger opportunities for exporting organic products.

The Senate Economics Committee has rejected the Food Donations Bill that proposed a tax offset for companies donating excess food to food relief agencies rather than dumping it. While the bill had the potential to deliver the equivalent of 100 million meals to food relief organisations, the committee said it had “serious concerns” including the bill’s “generous” tax concessions. Food relief agencies and social welfare organisations have questioned the committee’s decision to reject the bill outright rather than make recommendations for amendments.
