There is a lot underway at Close the Loop Group for 2024, and its presence at APPEX will be no different; the company will be showcasing products from across its greater business and highlighting its unique market position across both packaging and recycling industries.

The launch of the updated Close the Loop recycling and recovery facility in Melbourne at the beginning of 2024 brings further opportunities for the recycling and recovery of difficult packaging streams in Australia, including cosmetics and soft plastics. These are manufactured into high-valued, recycled products with zero waste to landfill.

The focus of the company’s packaging divisions, headed by O F Packaging, will continue to shift to products that are recyclable, reusable, or contain recycled content, while continuing to perform key functionality and product protection. While this has been a focus of O F Packaging for a number of years, working under Close the Loop provides greater capabilities for new innovations and tangible change, in-line with the company’s commitment towards a circular economy.

Hear more from marketing manager Jessica O'Donnell in this short video captured ahead of APPEX:

Close the Loop Group consists of a number of packaging divisions, and will be available to assist visitors with a range of packaging requirements beyond consumer-facing flexible packaging. Bulk handling and supply chain products such as bulk bags, bins and crates compliment their offering of industry-leading flexible packaging solutions, along with carton and paper options also on show.

Visit Close the Loop Group at Stand C148. APPEX is taking place on 12-15 March at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. Free registration is open now.

Food & Drink Business

A national network for young grape and wine professionals has been launched, set to foster the next generation of winemakers, viticulturists, cellar door staff, wine judges and other roles in Australia’s wine sector.

A new bill was introduced to Parliament on 19 November, which offers a framework for regulating the sale or importation of organic goods in Australia, and stronger opportunities for exporting organic products.

The Senate Economics Committee has rejected the Food Donations Bill that proposed a tax offset for companies donating excess food to food relief agencies rather than dumping it. While the bill had the potential to deliver the equivalent of 100 million meals to food relief organisations, the committee said it had “serious concerns” including the bill’s “generous” tax concessions. Food relief agencies and social welfare organisations have questioned the committee’s decision to reject the bill outright rather than make recommendations for amendments.
