Packaging specialists from several of Australia’s leading food and beverage companies will take the stage with Food & Drink Business editor and IPPO member, Kim Berry, in a far-reaching conversation about innovation in the sector.
The panel discussion forms part of the forum entitled "Packaging Perspectives: Global Trends Driving Change", curated by the International Packaging Press Organisation, of which Kim Berry is a member.
Leaders from Bega, Mars Wrigley, and Mondelez (and other companies to be confirmed) will share their insights and experiences, the latest trends, industry challenges and triumphs in a wide-ranging conversation about one of the most dynamic packaging channels.
IPPO president Lindy Hughson, publisher of Food & Drink Business and PKN Packaging News, said, "The calibre of the panel will provide a rare glimpse behind the corporate curtain into what it takes to drive change and embrace innovation when there are multiple demands and expectations from the company and consumers."

2pm: The IPPO forum kicks off with a deep-dive into the European viewpoint on packaging sustainability. Tim Sykes of Packaging Europe, organiser of the Sustainable Packaging Summit and global packaging Sustainability Awards, will share insights on the strategic challenges facing packaging in Europe and will review key trends and opportunities in the international packaging innovation landscape.
2.40pm: The future of smart packaging will be explored by Andrew Manly of AIPIA, veteran journalist and accomplished speaker on Active & Intelligent Packaging. Manly will review new technology finding lift off and highlight innovation and key themes from the recent Smart Packaging Congress in Amsterdam.
3.20pm: How brands are stepping up on sustainable packaging will be the focus of a panel session run by Kim Berry, editor of Food & Drink Business, speaking to representatives from Bega, Arnott’s and Mars Wrigley and Mondelez and more about innovations new to market and plans.
4.00pm: Wayne Robinson, editor of Print21 and associate editor of PKN Packaging News, will moderate a panel discussion with industry leaders on how material suppliers and converters are enabling brands to implement sustainable choices to meet the 2025 targets and pending government mandates.
4.30pm: To close the forum, Lindy Hughson (managing editor & publisher of PKN Packaging News) will run a Q&A with APCO CEO Chris Foley to provide and update on the latest state of play for packaging legislation in Australia, recycling infrastructure growth, and mapping a path to a circular economy.
