Nutritional foods company Atkins has announced a complete packaging rethink for its protein shakes range.

The ready-to-drink Low Carb Protein Shakes were previously packaged in TetraPak cartons, but Atkins has switched to a freshly branded 330ml PET bottle supplied by the Australian Blowmoulding Corporation.

Aimed at female consumers on their wellness journey, the new bottles have an easy-close, re-sealable screw cap lid to suit on-the-go consumption.

Atkins has also upgraded the packaging on its Powdered Shake Mix by switching from an "outdated" composite can to a new PET container. The PET tub is supplied by Quality Blow Moulders (QBM).

The company says the improved package design with a screw-top lid allows for better storage and handling.

Atkins Nutritionals Australia and New Zealand MD Richard Sullivan says sales growth in the diet and sports category continues to grow, and Atkins is seeking to stay ahead of the curve in terms of packaging and product innovation.
