The third and final session of the APPMA's Digital Lunchtime Series takes place this Friday, with Industry 4.0 evangelist John Broadbent looking at how you can kickstart your smart factory project.

The session will take place on Friday 1 October 12.30pm - 1.30pm AEST. Register here

In the first part of the session, John Broadbent will discuss how a complex and greenfield manufacturing environment, with equipment sourced from multiple vendors and countries, can be orchestrated into a world-class ‘smart factory’ in only six months. Learn how Coca-Cola Europacific Partners rose to the challenge, met their target commissioning date and vastly exceeded output in their first two weeks... and find out what was their ‘secret sauce’.

Ask an expert
The second part of the session will be your opportunity to tap into Broadbank's extensive knowledge bank to help kickstart or perhaps  breathe life back into your smart factory transformation journey. He will take you through:
– How to set up a smart factory project for success
– The importance of beginning with the end in mind and
– How to create a scalable and easy-to-maintain information landscape.

Through the online events platform, the audience will be able to bring their questions to Broadbent via the Live Q&A platform.

Food & Drink Business

The Senate Economics Committee has rejected the Food Donations Bill that proposed a tax offset for companies donating excess food to food relief agencies rather than dumping it. While the bill had the potential to deliver the equivalent of 100 million meals to food relief organisations, the committee said it had “serious concerns” including the bill’s “generous” tax concessions. Food relief agencies and social welfare organisations have questioned the committee’s decision to reject the bill outright rather than make recommendations for amendments.

The winners of the 62nd annual Australian Export Awards were announced in Canberra yesterday, featuring three winners from the food sector – including dessert manufacturer Frosty Boy Global, in the Agribusiness, Food and Beverages category.

Mondelēz International has appointed Toby Smith as President Japan, Australia and New Zealand, with the incumbent, Darren O’Brien, appointed Global Chief Corporate and Government Affairs officer.
