Touching on the biggest talking point in the packaging industry in tha least few months, in Industry Insight, we look at Australia's packaging regulatory reform (from page 12) and The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water's three-option framework for proposed reforms to the packaging system.

Next up, in Food & Beverage Packaging, we report that HMPS has acquired machine engineering company Engi-O for expanding its product portfolio and market reach in food sector (page 27); Lindy Hughson visits Ellie King at work at the Orora Gawler facility (page 28); Interpack has released its capR wine closure to tackle recycling challenges (page 30); and packaged beverages have started rolling off the line at Suntory’s +$400 million manufacturing facility in Queensland (page 32).

In Printing & Converting, label converters looking for an end-to-end print, embellish and finishing system were out in force at Jet Technologies' open day (page 34); ABG has installed a new non-stop winder to run with the 120mpm HP Indigo V12 120 (page 35); and the productivity, precision and safety of the Kongsberg Ultimate is now available through Australian distributor GMS Pacific (page 36).

It has been 20 years since SPC was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) but this week returned as SPC Global (ASX: SPG) following its merger with The Original Juice Company (OJC) and Nature One Dairy (NOD).

New Zealand Infant formula brand, LittleOak, is boosting its retail presence through a new partnership with Independent Pharmacies Australia (IPA) that will see its range available in IPA’s banner group, Chemist Discount Centre (CDC).

Fonterra says a plan to convert two coal boilers to wood pellets at its Clandeboye site in South Canterbury, New Zealand, is a crucial step in its commitment to exit coal by 2037.
