Continuing the award-winning streak for Planet Protector Packaging, Joanne Howarth, CEO and founder, has been recognised as the 2022 SBE Impact Award Winner in the Women to Watch – Global Growth Potential Category.

The award was presented to Howarth at The SBE 10th Year Anniversary Gala Event, held on 1 September at the Sydney Town Hall and attended by a community of female leaders and entrepreneurs.

Speaking to PKN after the win, CEO Joanne Howarth said, "I am truly appreciative of this amazing opportunity. At Planet Protector Packaging we have a very passionate team of extraordinary women. SBE Australia is doing incredible work to support female founders in the entrepreneurship ecosystem and supporting women to build and scale global, sustainable businesses which impact their respective markets as well as in the ANZ region."

Howarth was recognised for her work in founding and developing Planet Protector Packaging, whose mission is to eliminate polystyrene from cold supply chains, particularly those used to transport pharmaceuticals, food, and seafood, with the company's Woolpack solution.

Woolpack thermal packaging technology is positioned as a "disruptive and sustainable alternative to polystyrene".

For Howarth, there'll be no time to rest on her laurels. Next week she and colleagues Lars Ljung, sustainability manager, and Peter Hofbauer, chairman, are headed to India for the Pharma Pro & Pack 2022 Expo, the global trade show for pharma packaging and processing machinery, where they will be showcasing the Woolpack products to the global market.

Woolpack packaging technology offers a solution specifically designed for the pharmaceutical industry, the multiple award-winning 'Vaccine Protector' which has been used to ship the Pfizer vaccine around New Zealand. Vaccine Protector, which has won local and global awards, can keep product below 5C for well over 24 hours and between 2C and 8C for 72 hours and beyond.
