From 3-6 November, the Australian Packaging & Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) represented Australia at Pack Expo 2024 in Chicago, the largest trade show of its kind in North America. The event provided the opportunity to showcase the strength of Australian processing and packaging innovation to a global audience. It also served to  strengthen APPMA's alliance with the PMMI, the US Association for Processing and Packaging Technologies, and owner of Pack Expo.

APPMA board director, Nathan Wardell of Packserv (far right) and wife Audra paid the APPMA stand a visit. Pictured here with Denni Egan (left) and Michael Moran.

Representing APPMA were Michael Moran, CEO; Denni Egan, events & marketing manager; and Abigail Ford, APPEX sales manager. During the three-day event, the trio engaged with industry leaders and associations from around the world, promoting the next edition of  Australasia’s largest processing and packaging exhibition, APPEX 2027, and fostering international relationships to share information and learnings to the ultimate benefit of APPMA members.

The team participated in knowledge-sharing sessions, attended the Packaging & Processing Women in Leadership Breakfast, and held productive discussions at the International Associations’ Lunch. These forums provided valuable insights into global trends, challenges and developments in areas including sustainability, AI, and digitalisation to name a few, while reinforcing the importance of collaboration between international associations.

APPMA also proudly supported member companies at the expo, many of whom exhibited their innovations through their North American branches. The event showcased the remarkable capabilities of Australian businesses and underscored the industry’s ongoing capability to compete on the global stage.

As the event closed, APPMA’s team reflected on the significant opportunities Pack Expo had created. The connections made, knowledge gained, and innovations witnessed will now be leveraged to drive new initiatives, enhance member services, and further strengthen Australia’s position in the processing and packaging sectors.

APPMA looks forward to building on this momentum back home and continuing to connect Australian businesses with the global market.

BW Packaging was among the APPMA members with a strong show presence.
