As the Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) gears up for 2025, its vision for engaging with the meat processing sector is bolder and more comprehensive than ever.

Historically perceived primarily as a packaging-focused association, APPMA is taking strategic steps to reinforce its position as a truly all-of-industry organisation.

"The transition and success of APPEX in 2024 demonstrated value and benefit of APPMA’s commitment to representing and supporting all sectors of the processing and packaging industry. With a packed calendar of events and collaborations lined up, APPMA is ready to deliver unparalleled value to its members and stakeholders in the meat processing industry," said APPMA marketing and events manager Denni Egan.

AMIC Meat Processing and Export Conference
APPMA will kick off its 2025 initiatives by attending in the Australian Meat Industry Council’s (AMIC) Meat Processing and Export Conference in March. By engaging with key players and decision-makers, APPMA aims to highlight how its services and expertise among its membership base can contribute to advancing efficiencies and innovations across the meat processing value chain.

"This event presents an incredible opportunity to connect directly with processors and exporters, showcasing APPMA’s dedication to understanding the industry’s unique challenges," said APPMA CEO Michael Moran.

Uniting Australia and New Zealand at IFFA

In May, the APPMA and APPEX teams will head to Frankfurt, Germany, for IFFA, the world’s leading trade fair for the meat industry. There, APPMA will join forces with international exhibition organiser Messe Frankfurt to host an exclusive networking event for Australian and New Zealand attendees.

"This event is more than just a meet-and-greet — it’s a platform to foster collaboration, exchange insights, and strengthen ties within the international meat processing community," Moran said.

Spotlight on Innovation with AMPC

Continuing its momentum, APPMA will exhibit at the Australian Meat Processor Corporation’s (AMPC) Innovation Showcase in Brisbane this September.

"This partnership with AMPC is a testament to APPMA’s dedication to driving meaningful advancements in meat processing technologies," Moran said. "By actively participating in the Innovation Showcase, APPMA seeks to demonstrate how cutting-edge machinery and solutions can address critical issues, from sustainability and automation to workforce challenges."

For APPMA members, these initiatives signal an exciting era of growth and collaboration. From networking events to showcasing Australian innovation on a global stage, APPMA’s plans for 2025 are set to deliver tangible benefits for its members.

"By championing the needs of the meat processing sector, APPMA is demonstrating that it’s not just an association for packaging machinery but a trusted partner for the entire processing and packaging ecosystem," Egan said.

The year ahead promises to be a transformative one for APPMA and the meat processing industry. With strategic partnerships, innovative events, and a steadfast commitment to member success, APPMA is well on its way to making a lasting impact in 2025 and beyond.
