The dinner and underground cellar tour at Penfolds in Adelaide was a spectacular way to round out the 2023 year for the industry's peak body for the packaging and processing industry. With 80 representatives from 28 APPMA member companies gathering to sample a range of Penfold's Cellar Reserve wines, the evening was both convivial and collegiate. Members enjoyed learning about the history of this heritage wine brand and tasting the results of the wine maker's labours.

Marketing and events manager for APPMA, Denni Egan, said: "With our previously held Adelaide Dinners only reaching a maximum of 53 people, this strong turnout is clearly a sign that APPMA members are becoming more engaged with their industry association, ahead of the largest event for the processing and packaging industry Australia has ever seen."

Over dinner attendees heard from APPMA chair Mark Dingley, as he spoke of the anticipation building up ahead of APPEX 2024 and the success it is shaping up to be, with Gala Dinner tickets selling fast, and the exhibition being over 95 per cent sold.

Food & Drink Business

The largest shareholder, director, and managing director of health and wellness company Jatcorp, Zhan (Jack) Wang has resigned, effective immediately. He remains the largest shareholder. Sunny Jian Xin Liang continues as CEO.

In recent years, there has been growing recognition that food and agriculture should be viewed not solely as economic sectors but as pillars of national resilience and security. The combined pressures of geopolitical tensions, natural disasters, tech vulnerabilities, and climate change are driving broader recognition of sovereign risk in food production and supply chains, placing it alongside traditional domains of national defence and security. MEQ CEO, Remo Carbone, writes.

The a2 Milk Company says it’s expecting mid to high single-digit revenue growth in FY25, updating its previous guidance of mid single-digit. EBITDA as a percentage of revenue is expected to be broadly in line with FY24. The company has also introduced a dividend policy.
