The AIP continues its support for the Australasian Waste & Recycling Expo (AWRE) by hosting three educational events and establishing an innovative Packaging Pavilion. These initiatives aim to enhance industry knowledge and engagement, offering valuable insights and networking opportunities.

On 24 July, AIP will hold a session at the NSW EPA Theatre from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm on how to meet global and regional packaging design standards. This session will guide participants on aligning their packaging designs with the upcoming Federal government National Packaging Design Standards, the new EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulations, and Sustainable Packaging Design Guidelines.

It will highlight best practice global and local award-winning sustainable packaging details. Confirmed speakers for this session include Ralph Moyle, AIP's education coordinator, and Pippa Corry, founder of philo & co.

On 25 July, the second session will take place at the NSW EPA Theatre from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, focusing on the future growth of the Australasian Recycling Labelling (ARL) Program. Over 500,000 SKUs in Australia and New Zealand already use ARL labels. This panel discussion will cover updates, changes and consumer insights into the ARL program. Confirmed speakers include Ralph Moyle, AIP's education coordinator; Bonnie Marshall, policy officer at the National Retail Association; and Sarah Sannen, head of operations at the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO).

Additionally, on 25 July, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, AIP will conduct a mini-training course in Meeting Room Level three on the value of embedding ARL on packaging. This updated training course will educate participants on the benefits and implementation of the ARL on packaging.

It will cover topics like soft plastic threshold, the Check Locally program, ARL integration with Container Deposit Schemes, and interactive sessions with attendees’ packaging.

AIP will also launch a Packaging Pavilion at AWRE, offering a platform for member companies to showcase their packaging solutions to a broader audience, including councils, government, and the waste and recycling industry.

The Pavilion provides a cost-effective opportunity for businesses to connect with new industry stakeholders. Limited stands are available in Pavilion, and interested companies are encouraged to contact AIP for more details and to secure their spot.

All AIP activities contribute towards the Certified Packaging Professional designation, providing valuable professional development points for attendees.
