BW Packaging is establishing the BW Filling & Closing division by merging its existing Pneumatic Scale Angelus and Synerlink businesses. This new division leverages the strengths of these legacy businesses to enhance product value streams for food and beverage manufacturers.

The BW Filling & Closing division will encompass a variety of brands, including Pneumatic Scale, Mateer, and Hema fillers; Angelus and Continental/Closetech seamers; Arcil form-fill-seal (FFS) lines; Dairy Pack fill-seal (FS) lines; and Burt labellers. This structure will continue to support legacy brands while providing lifetime support for its packaging machinery solutions.

Rachana Creeth, group president of BW Packaging, stated that this integration “aligns teams to better meet the needs of global customers” and aims to offer more focused product offerings for food and beverage manufacturers.

Greg Wolf has been named president of BW Filling & Closing. With over 30 years of experience in capital equipment and leadership roles at companies like John Bean Technologies and Brown Machine Group, Wolf expressed his excitement about leading the division, “BW Filling & Closing is fortunate to have capable leaders and a talented team driving us toward greater achievements in service of our customers.”

Bill Morgan, former president of Pneumatic Scale Angelus, and Jean-Félix Lesueur, former president of Synerlink, will take on key leadership roles in the new division. Morgan will focus on aligning products and optimising performance across multiple manufacturing sites, while Lesueur will oversee commercial efforts in the EMEA and APAC regions.

BW Filling & Closing is part of BW Packaging, which also includes BW Flexible Systems and BW Integrated Systems. BW Packaging operates in 25 countries, providing sustainable packaging solutions and lifetime support for its products.

Food & Drink Business

Select Harvests managing director, David Surveyor, said the company’s $1.5 million net profit after tax (NPAT) for FY24, represents more than a $116 million turnaround from FY23, with an operating cash flow of $21.3 million being a 545.5 per cent increase on FY23.

Maggie Beer Holdings chair, Susan Thomas, told shareholders at this week’s AGM the board acknowledged the company must focus on earnings growth, capitalise on its “incredible” brand equity, and provide “proof points, not promises” to win back investor confidence after a year in which the company lost its CEO, CFO, and reported a $28.2 million loss.

Australian wine has received another international accolade, after a high-performing year for the industry. The 2022 Giaconda Estate Vineyard Chardonnay secured second place in US-based wine publication Vinous' Top 100 Wines of 2024.
