Film packaging machine specialist Kallfass has joined forces with Herma Labelling Machines to develop an innovative solution for an international producer of premium chocolates.

The new Herma 652C uses thin film wrapper, with what the maker says are practically invisible seams and a sealing label with tab to wrap and seal up to 250 items a minute.

The Herma labelling machine 652C was selected for this project to take care of the downstream precision top and bottom labelling of the candy boxes. The sealing label is generally applied to the bottom, and promotional labels are typically applied to the top. Depending on requirements, the two functions can be performed independently.

Thanks to innovative quick-change systems and touchscreens, the two integrated Herma 500 labellers facilitate rapid job setup. The menu structure is designed in such a way that no more than three clicks are needed to reach the desired menu item. Favourite parameter settings can be displayed directly on the start screen. The communication interfaces offer connectivity.

A hot-foil printer can easily be integrated for printing variable data, such as a best-before date, on the sealing label.

Designed to process as many as 250 products a minute, the machine also offers sufficient reserve capacity.

In Australia, Herma is represented by Result Group, a member of the Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA).

Every participant across the food and packaging industry supply chain must ensure foreign contaminants are not present in the products companies deliver to their customers. Eric Confer from Eriez outlines the best practices processing plants use today to achieve the highest product purity and avoid costly tramp metal damage by using magnetic separators and metal detectors.
