Danish-based Grow Up FARM has launched its new Eat-Grow-Repeat product, which incorporates Schur Star bagging technology and allows users to grow their own peas that keep refrigerated and fresh for a week.

The process is simple: the Schur Star bag, replete with pea plants, is placed on a windowsill and cared for with light and water. After a few days, completely fresh pea sprouts can be harvested.

Initially, the Schur Star Packaging Machine was only set for packing bean sprouts fully automatically into re-closable bags.

With its large capacity, the Schur Star system has given Grow Up FARM and brand owner Greenow the opportunity to realise the Eat-Grow-Repeat project.

“Because of the versatility of the packaging machine and its high capacity, we decided to speed up the new Eat-Grow-Repeat project,” said Lasse Vilmar, company CEO.

“When starting up a new project, flexibility is of the utmost importance, as you must be able to quickly adapt to market reactions.”

The pea plants are initially grown in an entirely new, vertical greenhouse – on five floors, in a 100 per cent controlled climate, with recirculated water, under artificial light and completely without soil.

Also, in a bid to match the 100 per cent compostable contents, the bag is produced from PE, which does not require separation to be processed in a recycling system.

“Now, we can change from a fully automatic to a manual packing process in a few minutes, and in terms of bag constructions, we are not at all limited to the two bag types,” Vilmar explained.

“We are excited about the new flexibility and the many options, and we feel convinced that the market will welcome our novelties.”

Further information on the concept can be in the company’s virtual showroom, which can be accessed here.
