The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) will host a technical afternoon which explains the purpose behind the Australian Recycling Label and the Packaging Recyclability Evaluation Portal (PREP).

According to the AIP, the recycling rate of packaging in Australia has risen to be one of the highest in the world, but hasn't increased since 2010.

“This calls for innovation, leadership and increased knowledge on the part of packaging designers,” said AIP spokesperson Nerida Kelton.

Last year Planet Ark launched the Australian Recycling Label, and companies such as Blackmores adopted it on products to help consumers do the right thing.

The label is underpinned by evidence obtained from PREP and developed by GreenChip and Planet Ark.

The afternoon will include presentations from Planet Ark Environmental Foundation CEO Paul Klymenko and Blackmores' environment and sustainability manager Jackie Smiles.

The event will run from 2.15pm to 4pm on Wednesday 23 March at Oatlands Golf Course Club House, Sydney. Book your place here.
