Amcor Flexibles' Twin Pouch packaging is an inventive packaging idea that makes stir fry cooking easy for consumers, and was developed with Nestlé for its Maggi Stir Fry Creations product range, sold in Australia and New Zealand. The stand-up Twin Pouch has two compartments co-joined with a centre perforation for easy tear. Traditionally, preparing Asian meals requires time and several ingredients and condiments before the meal is ready. With the Twin Pouch packaging used in the Maggi Stir Fry Creations product range, sauces, pastes and marinades can now be combined into two pouches – one for the marinade and another for the finishing sauce. A QR code on the reverse of the pack allows consumers to view a video demonstration of how to use the two step process and prepare the meal.

Amcor stated, “At Amcor, developing innovative packaging solutions is a convergence of art and science — we work alongside our customers to understand their end-users' needs and leverage on our expanding footprint and expertise in Asia. It is such partnerships that lead to the successful launch of many innovative packaging products in the market today.”

And so, Amcor Flexibles has won Gold for the Nestlé Twin Pouch packaging at the 26th DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation. These annual awards applaud the top innovators in packaging globally. The awards were announced in Wilmington, USA on 15 May 2014, recognising excellence in innovations in packaging, design, materials, technology, processes and service across the entire packaging value chain.

Ralf K. Wunderlich, president of Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific, stated, “Amcor’s win at DuPont Awards is testament to Amcor’s deep commitment to innovation. We are always working closely with our customers to develop truly unique packaging solutions such as the Twin Pouch and to help them create a unique consumer and packaging experience.”

The DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation have been running since 1986 and the DuPont Packaging Awards program is now recognised as the leading packaging awards program in the world. Each year, a panel of judges awards diamond, gold or silver honours based on excellence in one, two, or all of three categories. New categories this year were Technological Advancement; Responsible Packaging; and Enhanced User Experience, which were created to reflect current trends and the important role consumers play in driving packaging innovation.
