DS Labels, based in Marickville, Sydney, is the first mainstream self-adhesive label printer to take the leap into digital inkjet technology through its purchase of the L350UV digital inkjet press designed by Screen and distributed exclusively in Australia by Jet Technologies.
Last year, Jet Technologies installed the press at its demonstration centre in Rosebury. Speaking to PKN at PrintEx last week, Jet Technologies' director Jack Malki said that having the press accessible for live demonstration was an important factor in clinching this first sale to DS Labels. He said Jet has run numerous trial jobs for customers and this, in turn, has driven interest from brand owners in learning more about the advantages of digital inkjet technology.
“We have run jobs on such a wide variety of stocks that when it came time to show DS Labels what was possible, we were able to demonstrate what we could do on over 35 locally available self-adhesive stocks.
Deane Sproule, MD of DS Labels told PKN that having the opportunity to see the press in action at the demo centre was a big factor in making the decision.
“Now that it's been installed for a few weeks, and we're discovering more and more things we can do with it, we're even happier with the quality and the output,” he said.
Sproule said he is confident the Truepress L350UV is the right choice for DS Labels' digital print business to complement its traditional print offering.
Jet Technologies has also supplied a Smag label finishing line to DS Labels.
