It's bottled water. We all get what it's for. So how do you give a new brand of water something the others don't have too?
What if your bottle looked like an elegant glass decanter and was embossed with Braille?
Nakd brand creator, Jamie Gripton, told PKN the story behind this New Zealand water brand's eye-catching packaging.
“Our brand has always revolved around the water being the star, and to make the experience of drinking nakd to be simple but memorable. It had to be sexy, sleek and simple, but without ostentatious in-your-face labelling.
“Our bottle was designed by Thomas Flinn at Juice 3D, and the brief was to design something that felt amazing in your hand, looked like glass, and had a clean, lean, elegant shape that delivered the water in a smooth way so that it just slides down.
“Inspired by the naked mouth feel of our artesian water, we wanted to have our label take a back seat. It was always going to be bold to be bare!
“The Braille was actually Flinn's idea. The concept was that you don't have to be able to see to enjoy something beautiful - beauty comes from within; it’s all about stripping away the labels and trusting in the water and the naked taste and feel. It's simply nakd.
Flinn stripped away of all the loud and bright traditional water packaging and let the water do the talking. We hide behind no clothes or coverings.”
Nakd still water comes in 330ml, 500ml and 750ml PET bottles and 330ml and 750ml glass bottles. Sparkling comes in 750ml glass bottles. It's now available in Australia.
