KHS’ Innofill Can DVD was designed with its future viability at the top of a list of priorities.  Firstly, the computer-controlled can filler is able to process many different types of product – beer, carbonated soft drinks, juices, still beverages, water and even coffee and tea in cans, capacities from 0.1 to 1 litre. If particularly sensitive beverages, such as mixed beer drinks or still water, are processed, the Innofill Can DVD can be installed in a special KHS sanitary room with filter units in the ceiling.   

Secondly, it can achieve filling capacities of up to 120,000 cans an hour. 

And now we come to the hub of its advantages. The Innofill Can DVD operates according to the volumetric filling principle. This filling method ensures maximum fill level accuracy regardless of the type of can. Highly dynamic filling guarantees uniform filler results in all capacity and operating phases. And all processing sequences are automated and all processes are documented and are reproducible at all times. 

Purging cans with CO2 assures the best possible technological values. The oxygen pick-up when filling 0.5 litre cans of beer previously lay between 80 and 120 ppb and carbon dioxide consumption was approximately 800 to 1000 grams per hectolitre. With the help of the CAN+ low-pressure purging process used in the Innofill Can DVD, the oxygen pickup can be reduced by up to 50% while the CO2 values remain constant. On the other hand, the CO2 consumption can be reduced by up to 30% while the oxygen content remains constant. It is also possible to reduce both oxygen pickup and CO2 consumption. In other words, the technological values may be matched perfectly to the particular beverages to be processed.

Boosted sustainability features include energy-saving warm filling at up to 20°C versus conventional recooling, and the system's hygienic design for a simple cleaning process which saves on resources.  

Hygiene is optimised by:

  •      The open design of the can feed and discharge conveyors. 
  •      No front table. 
  •      Drives in the form of servomotors mounted in star columns or encased in stainless steel.
  •      Star columns and the filler carousel connected by cross pipes without flanges in which cables and pipes are also laid. 
  •      Filling valves that can be easily flanged to and removed from the valve support.
  •      Media feed through hygienic pantograph joints. 

The particularly hygienic design of the system results in reduced cleaning times and increased maintenance intervals. The associated water, energy and cleaning media costs are minimised and system availability is increased. Maintenance costs are also significantly reduced because of the absence of many mechanical drive connections.

The centering bell enables processing of various can diameters. The centering bell guide is implemented by expansion joints. This enables the mouth of the can to be sealed under aseptic conditions. For the first time, permanent water lubrication of the filling valves is not required and is always included in the CIP and sterilisation process. And the can seamer is connected using servo technology.
