...Asking that question led KHS to develop a superior feed module. The new KHS Feedflow preform feed unit conveys very light preforms extremely gently at ultra-high speeds. Light preforms are able to be delivered effectively into the InnoPET Blomax stretch blow molder at a maximum output of 84,000 preforms per hour.

The preforms are fed into a preform silo with an optional silo lid to protect the preforms from foreign objects. For very sensitive products that have a higher hygiene requirement the Feedmax system can be fully enclosed. From the silo, the preforms travel along an inclined conveyor to an interim conveyor which discharges into the preform sorter. At the end of the sorter, the preforms are fed in one lane to a discharge rail or, depending on the application, onto the active, horizontal Feedflow conveying segment.

The traditional discharge rail uses the force of gravity to generate the required accumulation pressure to keep the preforms continuously moving towards the stretch blow molder. The preform weight and quality, infeed angle, surface properties of the discharge rail, temperature and humidity all influence reliable transportation and conveying speed. This complexity can pose a risk to the course of production and line availability.

Instead, the Feedflow method actively conveys the preforms along the horizontal feed segment in a targeted flow of air. The frequency-controlled blower motors on the Feedflow ensure a constant and reliable flow of materials to the blow molder. They also ensure a high permanent level of line availability.

A further advantage is the compact size of the Feedmax system. It is also easier to operate and service.

The combined Feedmax/Feedflow feed system has a controller included in the blow molder, the KHS ClearLine HMI. This feature has won a number of awards for its ergonomics, logical navigation and attractive design. It controls the process centrally, reduces machine complexity and makes operating the entire set-up much simpler.

Queensland’s best beverages have been awarded at the 2026 Royal Queensland Distilled Spirits and Beer Awards, with Happy Valley Brewing Co and Nil Desperandum taking out the top honours.

Adelaide Hills wine producer, Sidewood Estate, has entered a national distribution partnership with Samuel Smith & Son, the domestic distribution arm of Hill-Smith Family Estates.

Twelve months after bringing four businesses together under the SPC Global banner, CEO Robert Iervasi says the biggest shift has been cultural as much as financial: the company has moved from making what it can and “finding a home” for it, to building the portfolio around what consumers want, in the channels where demand is strongest.
