Australian food and beverage exporters are set to benefit from an agreement between Monash University and the Nutrition and Health Research Institute (NHRI) of China’s biggest food company – the state-owned COFCO Corporation.

It is the first agreement signed by COFCO’s NHRI and an Australian organisation, according to Monash.

Under the agreement, which is aimed at boosting exports to China, the Food Innovation Centre at Monash says it will have access to COFCO NHRI’s technical resources, knowledge of Chinese consumers, regulatory expertise and market delivery platforms to fast track supply opportunities for Australian exporters.

In other news for Monash, the university is building a Food Preneurs incubator which will enable visitors to trial new technology in a serviced experimental kitchen which covers every aspect of production from conception to launch.
