Yoghurt and dairy dessert makers have always understood that their best bet for amping up their sales volumes was the single serve, carry anywhere, throw away package. They must have hoped we'd all just carry around a spoon.

RPC Superfos realised we don't and we'd rather like to have one provided. So it has just released a range for dairy producers that integrates the spoon into the packaging.

The new pack comes with a spoon fastened in the lid of a square pot. It is very easy to get hold of the spoon. All you need to do is to tear off a self-adhesive peel-off label on top of the plastic pot.

“It is a very handy and practical solution. The spoon is ready to grab without any need for opening a smaller plastic bag. The key word is simplicity - there is all you need, but no more than that, ” Søren Marcussen, executive vice president CSO, RPC Superfos explained.

The entire pack features attractive smooth lines and is easy to hold. The design is available in two versions: one with the spoon in the lid and one with a higher lid, with room for both a crunchy topping and the spoon. There are two sizes - a brimful of 210 ml or 300 ml. The pot is reclosable, stable and optimised for stacking, filled or empty. In-mould labelling means the brand identity is maximised on-shelf with colours, pictures, decorations and trademarks rendered in premium image quality.

RPC Superfos is one of the WorldStar winners that will be applauded formally at a presentation ceremony at interpack - Superfos for its custom oxygen barrier packaging for Bornholms’ sea food.

Superfos developed a series of four types of packaging with an entirely new oxygen barrier solution especially for Bornholms. The company is now converting most of its packaging solutions from cans to plastics boxes, a decision based on benefits like improved logistics, user-friendliness and shelf life.

Borholms seafood is available in the new Superfos packaging in supermarkets in Denmark. Under ambient temperatures, the shelf life is two years although in the longer term, Bornholms and RPC Superfos expect this to be extended up to three years.

Bornholms states that the repackaging has saved an estimated 200,000 km by truck every year, while the improved stackability means the empty pots require only 30% of the warehouse space used previously.

According to Australia’s 2023-24 Gender Equality Scorecard, there is still a “sizeable and pervasive” total remuneration gender pay gap of almost 22 per cent. The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) research shows that while the food and beverage manufacturing industry has started reducing this gap on paper, the uneven composition of its workforce has an impact.
