Quentin Tarantino has apparently acquired a taste for Victoria Bitter, and on his recent visit to Australia to promote his latest film The Hateful Eight, the VB brand team at CUB wanted to surprise him with a personalised six-pack of the famous beer. Orora was called on for help.

Orora swung into action, and was able to turn around the can design and production in just two days, enabling CUB to present the personalised Tarantinnie to a delighted Tarantino in Sydney earlier this month.

“Orora strives to be a customer-led provider of innovative packaging solutions, and this partnership with CUB is a great example of our nimble approach,” said Adam Johnson, business manager for Orora Beverage.

Johnson told PKN that Orora's randomised can printing technology and recent positive printing innovation has allowed beverage cans to compete with glass and PET bottles in mass scale individualised campaigns.

“It has been used numerous times within Australia by our customers for engaging individualised mass scale consumer promotions, to great effect.”

To date, Orora has produced 328 million cans for local customers using the technology.

Orora’s randomised can printing technology and positive printing innovation has also been rolled out globally under licence by Ball Corporation, the largest can-maker in the world. Coca-Cola hase used the technology in 34 countries.

Scott Tindall, senior brand manager for Victoria Bitter, said “We wanted to do something special for Quentin Tarantino when we heard he was a fan of VB. Orora were able to quickly turn around the concept and produce cans in no time. To have a business partner that can work with us to bring concepts to life is fantastic.”

Orora Beverage’s Decorating Centre of Excellence and randomised can printing processes have contributed to Orora being included in the BRW Most Innovative Companies for the last two years. In addition to quick turn-around small-run projects and personalised printing, the team at Orora Beverage also offer customers many innovative packaging solutions including Australia’s only beverage can embossing and exclusive access to XO Solutions resealable can ends.
