A new system for sealing stand-up food pouches has been released by Effytec.

The company's horizontal pouch machines use the Quatro sealing system, which contains three different stations that seal the gusset, upper side, and lower side of the pack.

The patented solution inserts either an inverted T sealer or a U sealer, depending on the pouch shape. It hits all seals four times, ensuring a high quality seal.

The seal avoids product leakages, allowing for processes of retort or pasteurisation.

The electro heater uses sealing plates instead of bars, and an electrode heater is sandwiched between the sealing plates. Its platen-style design ensures optimum heat dispersion.

The machines can achieve higher speeds due to the parallel sealing operation, and changeover only requires replacement of the plates rather than the heater, minimising downtime.

The new technology has three key benefits:

  •   Higher quality seals with zero leakages
  •   Higher machine speeds
  •   Reduced downtime and maintenance
