Chromatic Technologies (CTI) began in 1993 in the dorm room of a Cornell University chemistry major, Lyle Small. It is now the world’s largest thermochromic packaging material and conducts business in more than 50 countries. The company’s thermochromic inks are used for every kind of on pack messaging. CTI chemistry even provides photochromic, black light, glow-in-the-dark, social media activation, security protection, and is also inventing new methods for bacteria detection and cancer treatment.
Its latest breakthrough chemistry has resulted in the launch of CTI PowerCapsules. These thermochromic colour concentrate pellets provide a remarkable let-down ratio, temperature indication, vibrant colour and UV stability.
They may be used in polypropylene (PP), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polystyrene (PS) and polyethylene (PE). And they are suitable for a wide range of products, including QSR utensils, soda closures, ice cream spoons, baby bath toys, coffee lids and soup bowls.
PowerCapsules are free of bisphenol A/‘BPA-free’ and are also recyclable.
Patrick Edson, chief marketing officer at CTI, stated, “We know that brands are very frustrated with the suppliers who only offer a solution for a single packaging format. Since brands sell products in plastic, aluminium, cardboard, glass, shrink, labels and cups, they need suppliers who can take an idea and stretch it across any packaging format and support it globally. This was a big hole in the market until we succeeded with PowerCapsules.
