Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas’ newest coating machine at its Indah Kiat Serang mill in Indonesia is now operational, increasing production of the company's Foopak Bio Natura suite of biodegradable, compostable and recyclable packaging boards to over 60,000 metric tons a year.

The pulp and paper manufacturer’s award-winning Foopak Bio Natura folding boxboard grades are plastic-free, with application in hot and cold takeaway food service, beverage and ready-to-eat food packaging.

APP has replaced the traditional petroleum-based plastic coating with aqua-dispersion technology, making the product fully sustainable and certified biodegradable within 12 weeks. 

“Sustainable packaging is no longer a simple nice-to-have, but has emerged as a high-demand critical dependency for many global brands,” said Christopher Wong, senior vice-president & head industrial paper division, APP Sinar Mas. 

“This new capacity allows us to provide paper and packaging buyers with solutions that have a positive earth impact along with the performance needed to service the growing food retail and service sector.” 

All Foopak products are FDA, Halal, REACH and BfR certified for food contact and includes hardsized, greaseproof, extensive kit levels of papers and boards for oven, microwave and freezer packaging, as well as liners for bakery, dairy and confection products.

The a2 Milk Company says it’s expecting mid to high single-digit revenue growth in FY25, updating its previous guidance of mid single-digit. EBITDA as a percentage of revenue is expected to be broadly in line with FY24. The company has also introduced a dividend policy.
