Big Bag Recovery has joined forces with the Australian Beverages Council under its Environmental Sustainability Roadmap to 2030 (ESR30) initiative. This partnership aims to tackle bulk bag waste in the beverage industry through Australia’s only government-accredited product stewardship scheme for bulk bags.

The program transforms bulk bag waste into valuable resources by providing nationwide collection services, including direct pickups and free drop-off points. The company processes woven polypropylene (wPP) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) bags into reusable resin pellets, which are then used to create new products such as community seating and evaporation covers.

The ESR30 initiative brings a wealth of resources to the table. Beverage businesses can tap into reporting software, webinars, training, supplier discounts, and grant support to elevate their sustainability practices.

Bundaberg Brewed Drinks is leading the charge, showcasing its commitment to reducing waste by ensuring bulk bags are recycled instead of ending up in landfill or being incinerated.

Joining the Big Bag Recovery program is a win-win for beverage businesses. It helps them comply with regulations, boosts brand trust through demonstrated environmental responsibility, gives them a competitive edge in tenders, and provides detailed impact reports on plastic collection, CO2 reduction, and job support within the circular economy.
