Join Society of Plastics Engineers ANZ (SPE) members and other industry professionals for a tour of what is claimed to be Australia’s largest end-to-end plastics recycling facility, Circular Plastics Australia (PE) in Laverton North, Victoria, on 18 March.

Participants will follow the journey of packaging containers from the commingled recycling bin into high-quality, food-grade recycled resin.

The tour, which will take place from 3-5:30pm, will include a visit to Cleanaway’s Laverton Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and integrated Plastics Recovery Facility (PRF), as well as Circular Plastics Australia (PE)’s HDPE and PP recycling plant producing recycled resins used for food, beverage, and industrial packaging. The tour will conclude with soft drinks and bites in the boardroom.

Circular Plastics Australia (PE) is a joint venture between Pact Group and Cleanaway. Get more information and register to attend here.

The Senate Economics Committee has rejected the Food Donations Bill that proposed a tax offset for companies donating excess food to food relief agencies rather than dumping it. While the bill had the potential to deliver the equivalent of 100 million meals to food relief organisations, the committee said it had “serious concerns” including the bill’s “generous” tax concessions. Food relief agencies and social welfare organisations have questioned the committee’s decision to reject the bill outright rather than make recommendations for amendments.
