Colgate-Palmolive will be running a webinar, free for Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) members, detailing its commitment to building environmental and social consciousness into its packaging decision-making.

In recent years, Colgate-Palmolive has emerged as a socially responsible corporate leader, with intentions to achieve net zero carbon by 2040, and 100 per cent renewable energy for its global operations by 2030.

Held on Thursday 8 December at 11am EST (Friday, 3am AEST), Sukhdev Saini, global toothbrush packaging manager at Colgate-Palmolive, will discuss the company’s sustainability initiatives and the key pillars of its strategic model.

Saini is a packaging professional with 19 years of experience at companies like Unilever, GlaxoSmithKline and General Mills.

He is currently the Global Packaging Leader at Colgate-Palmolive, managing the toothbrush category. His areas of expertise include packaging strategy, design thinking and sustainability.

He is a regular speaker at packaging and printing forums and is a regular writer about sustainability.

Saini will also speak on Colgate-Palmolive’s ‘Keep Toothbrush’ being a 2022 AmeriStar winner in the sustainability category.

The manual toothbrush is the brand’s first to include a handle made with aluminium instead of plastic, eliminating 80 per cent of the plastic waste from a typical toothbrush, and is a 100 per cent paper-based package that allows for recycling in a single waste stream.

Finally, he will discuss how the Colgate-Palmolive team brought the package to life, including insight into the concept, design, supplier selection and sourcing, testing, and more.
