The Australian Packaging Covenant is inviting members with an interest in sustainable design to participate in an exclusive workshop with Dr. Leyla Acaroglu.

The designer, sustainability expert, and change-maker will lead an intimate Melbourne workshop called Disruptive Design: Become a sustainable change-maker for 40 select members on 23 February.

Winners will be chosen on their creativity, eligibility, and commitment to sustainable design.

Dr. Acaroglu (pictured) will explore the design strategies, techniques and tools that practicing designers, engineers, and product managers can use to embed strategic sustainability and life cycle thinking into the development of products, packaging and processes.

The workshop will:

  • Examine how to use a systems thinking approach to understand and identify sustainable innovation opportunities within product development;
  • Provide an overview of the Disruptive Design Method to support brand owners and designers in leading with sustainable product development solutions; and
  • Overcome barriers and hurdles to integrating sustainable design and production techniques into your organisation.

Acaroglu's mainstage TED talk on sustainability has been viewed over a million times, and she leads presentations around the world on activating positive social change through creative interventions.

Entries close at 12pm on Friday 3 February. Members can enter here.
