PulPac’s dry moulded fibre technology has been adopted by global food service packaging manufacturer, Matrix Pack, for its hot and cold drink lids, as the start of a new line of sustainable food service packaging products.

Matrix Pack says it has entered into an industrialisation partnership and machine supply agreement with Curt G Joa (JOA), a designer and manufacturer of converting machinery for the hygiene industry. JOA will support Matrix Pack’s business development in North America and Europe.

Ryan Brown, business development manager at JOA said, “In PulPac’s dry moulded fibre technology we see enormous potential to bring sustainable packaging to market. We look forward to applying our engineering excellence and industrial expertise to develop complete machine platforms for Matrix Pack.”

“We will work hand in hand with JOA to commission the first dry moulded fibre production machine in our technology centre in Greece. Together with JOA and PulPac, we are looking forward to transforming this into an industrial success, and then roll-out the optimised process in large-scale in our North American and European plants,” said Dionysis Valentis, business development director at Matrix Pack.

“With cutting-edge technology access, top-notch raw materials and our manufacturing expertise, Matrix Pack’s technology and business platform is poised to meet growing consumer demand for innovative and sustainable eco-friendly food packaging products."

Viktor Börjesson, chief partnership officer at PulPac added, “Harnessing the power of shared knowledge and ideas is the foundation of our partnership model. Collaborative actions are powerful. By working together, we can change the packaging industry from within, and cater to the market needs of responsibly produced sustainable packaging."

PulPac is continuously growing its global operations, having recently expanded its US business by partnering with Tek Pak, who since 1992 have provided the medical, electronics, and consumer markets with quick-turn rapid prototyping and short to long-run production thermoforming.

"We take our commitment to producing environmental and sustainability packaging seriously at Tek Pak. Having the opportunity to work closely with PulPac to provide tools for dry fibre manufacturing will give our customers a new, exciting, and innovative packaging option," said Tony Beyer, owner of Tek Pak.

This development follows on from its technology being granted three new patents in the US.
