Coca-Cola Europacific Partners’ (CCEP) latest warehousing facility in Richlands, Queensland is aiming for a 5 Star Green Star rating by the end of the year.

The $40 million warehouse was purpose-built by Charter Hall and designed for business efficiencies and to deliver a range of sustainability benefits.

The build is 8791 square metres and located next to CCEP’s existing Production and Distribution Centre, enabling CCEP to relocate its Equipment Services division and Point-of-Sale warehouse, which had been based at Rocklea.

CCEP’s newly appointed managing director – Australia, Orlando Rodriguez, said the Richlands site would strengthen its Queensland operations, “boasting a more efficient layout, enabling more seamless integration between our teams, and allowing us to deliver even better service to our 17,000-plus customers in the Sunshine State”.

“We’re also proud to be unlocking these efficiencies as sustainably as we can, working with Charter Hall to target this becoming the first business in our Australia portfolio to achieve a 5 Star Green Star rating. As we supercharge our efforts to reach net zero by 2040, this latest purpose-built premises reflects our commitment to enhancing the sustainability of our Australian operations into the future,” Rodriguez said.

The new warehouse is one of 20 CCEP-managed sites in Queensland, with the company’s property footprint spanning as far north as Cairns, as well as operations in every state and territory across the country.

Richard Stacker, Charter Hall's CEO industrial and logistics, said the facility was designed with sustainability at its centre.

“CCEP is a long-term tenant customer of Charter Hall and one of the largest in our industrial and logistics portfolio, leveraging our national scale as we partner to provide property solutions that enable efficiencies across their supply chain,” Stacker said.

CCEP said it reflected the company’s continued investment in more efficient and sustainable infrastructure.

The site features a 233kw solar power system, while water-efficiency is supported by a 100,000L water tank that enables reuse of water for amenities and gardens.

The building utilises low-pollutant materials providing an improved indoor working environment, including better air quality, daylighting, and thermal comfort supported by cutting edge climate control. Efficient LED lights and motion sensors are also used throughout.

Weather resilience also formed an important part of the brief to Charter Hall with a strong focus on creating a building design capable of tolerating future climate-related events such as extreme rainfall and floods, helping to minimise disruptions and ensure continuity of CCEP’s service levels.
