Sydney design and brand agency Biggie Smalls created its own donut brand, complete with packaging aimed at bringing a smile.

The Big Poppa Donuts packaging houses three glazed donuts in a vibrant bespoke tube.

Materials used includes a tin can, cardboard inserts, and a paper bag with label.

The donuts are stacked one on top of the other, in a tactic which ensures each donut has to be removed one at a time.

The donut flavours include strawberry ('full fat strat'), chocolate ('crispy creative') and vanilla ('sugar-topped service').

The fictional donut character and brand name Big Poppa was a nod to the company's own studio name of Biggie Smalls.

“Our hit rate was exceptional, with very high levels of response and plenty of new work and allies created,” a spokesperson said.

Months after announcing its exit from food science research, CSIRO has released a regional food system strategy for South East Queensland, calling for coordinated action on supply chains, land use, and food security ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

A further $6.9 million has been allocated to five successful applicants through the federal Industry Growth Program (IGP), including several developing technologies to support the Australian food system. The latest round includes Bioborne, C Sea Solutions, Seascape Restorations Australia, and Levur.

Methane-reducing feed additive developer, Sea Forest, has entered into an agreement with New South Wales-based farm, Avondale Ag, to supplement 5000 cattle with SeaFeed, for an initial term of 12 months.
