In a career highlight for Supriya Suhale, category manager for Connectivity at Beckhoff, she took home the Emerging Leader award at the APPMA Awards of Excellence ceremony on 13 March, at a gala dinner held during APPEX.

In her 9-year career to date, Supriya has risen from engineering intern to manager, and currently specialises in promoting Beckhoff's IO products.

The citation read out during the award presentation said, "Supriya's strategic planning and ethical standards contribute to Beckhoff's market share growth and CO2 reduction initiatives.

"Beyond her professional achievements, she leads efforts to reduce greenhouse gases in traditional manufacturing as a Green Ambassador. As a volunteer, she engages in humanitarian relief globally. Supriya's future goals include expanding Beckhoff's presence, mentoring new team members, and promoting automation in STEM for women.

"Testimonials from industry colleagues applaud her analytical skills and methodical approach, showcasing her as a force in the industry. Supriya's story embodies success, dedication, and a commitment to a brighter future in automation."

It was the culmination of a big day at APPEX for Suhale, who had also participated as a panellist at the APPEX Women in Processing & Packaging forum.

Suhale thanked her leaders, mentors, colleagues and the team at PR company Positiv, all of whom, she said, have shown her tremendous support in her nomination.

"Thank you for the recognition and positivity along the way. I have taken home more than the award from this experience," Suhale said.

The trophy was presented by Robert Marguccio, business manager - Packaging and Inspection Systems at Heat and Control, sponsor of the award.

Wide Open Agriculture (WOA) has secured a $1.2 million tax rebate under the federal R&D Tax Incentive Scheme for FY24. The ASX-listed ingredient company says it reflects the large amount of R&D it has undertaken in developing its proprietary lupin protein isolates ready for market.

Forbidden Foods group revenues for the March quarter were up due to solid growth in physical store and online channels. The company reported a 171 per cent increase in net sales on the prior corresponding period (pcp), from $406,000 to $1.1 million.
