“Each winner has showcased an incredible commitment to meeting the 2025 National Packaging Targets, through innovative packaging solutions and collaboration across the entire packaging value chain.

“Particular congratulations must go to our new small business award winners. It’s a tough economic climate for any business to be operating in, so it’s fantastic to see smaller organisations leading from the front to build a better approach to packaging here in Australia.”

The winners of the Industry Sector Awards and Highest Performing SME Industry Sector Awards were determined based on members’ Annual Reporting scores and their performance against the Packaging Sustainability Framework criteria.

The remaining award categories, including the evening’s top prize, the Sustainable Packaging Excellence Award, will be announced at the awards ceremony tonight and online tomorrow.

The Senate Economics Committee has rejected the Food Donations Bill that proposed a tax offset for companies donating excess food to food relief agencies rather than dumping it. While the bill had the potential to deliver the equivalent of 100 million meals to food relief organisations, the committee said it had “serious concerns” including the bill’s “generous” tax concessions. Food relief agencies and social welfare organisations have questioned the committee’s decision to reject the bill outright rather than make recommendations for amendments.

The winners of the 62nd annual Australian Export Awards were announced in Canberra yesterday, featuring three winners from the food sector – including dessert manufacturer Frosty Boy Global, in the Agribusiness, Food and Beverages category.
