Australian cardboard packaging printer and converter Pakko has purchased the key machinery and database assets of Boxes R Us, and taken the company owners on board as part of the Pakko team, following the smaller box manufacturer's sudden closure.

Boxes R Us, formerly known as CraftPak, was run by Kirsty and Scott Buckley, and had built a reputation for excellence in box manufacture and has been a respected name in the industry for years, prior to its recent sudden closure.

Pakko, run by CEO Nina Nguyen (centre), has acquired key machinery and the Boxes R Us database to expand its own capabilities and has welcomed former owners Scott (left) and Kirsty Buckley into its team.

Pakko CEO Nina Nguyen told PKN, “The manufacturing industry in Australia has been undergoing significant transformations in recent years. The rise of digitalisation, economic fluctuations, and market consolidation have pushed many smaller businesses to either merge with larger entities or, unfortunately, close their doors.

“As a company deeply embedded in the Australian manufacturing sector, Pakko has witnessed these shifts firsthand, and we have committed ourselves to not only adapt to these changes but to thrive and support our industry partners along the way.”

Nguyen said hearing about the closure of Boxes R Us was “heartbreaking news”. She said its closure was a reminder of the challenges that small businesses face in today’s volatile market.

“The impact of this situation has been felt across the industry, particularly by those of us who have worked closely with them,” she said.

“At Pakko, we believe that challenges can often lead to new opportunities. In the spirit of resilience and collaboration, we have taken steps to ensure that the commitment of Boxes R Us continues within the Pakko family.”

“This is not just a business acquisition; it is an integration of values, experience, and a shared commitment to delivering excellence in print and packaging,” Nguyen said.

By joining forces, we aim to maintain the high Australian standards that both Pakko and Boxes R Us have been known for. We are excited about the future as we continue to provide top-quality packaging solutions to small, emerging, and growing businesses across Australia.

“While it is unfortunate to see a valued partner like Boxes R Us close its doors, we are proud to carry forward their dedication and passion,” she said.

“Pakko is not just a packaging manufacturer, we are a community of professionals who support each other through thick and thin,” said Nguyen, noting that the company will continue to “adapt, innovate, and lead by example”, ensuring that the Australian manufacturing and packaging industry remains strong and vibrant for years to come.
