Outstanding commitment to packaging sustainability saw Colourtrend Paints secure the APCO 2020 Industry Sector Award for Chemicals, Hardware & Machinery.

Continuing efforts to reduce its environmental impact, this reporting period Colourtrend Paints has shown an outstanding commitment to improving the sustainability of its packaging.

Having established a packaging policy focusing on ‘Reuse and Recycle’, the team has integrated packaging sustainability targets into its annual business plan as well as purchasing procedures.

Colourtrend Paints has eliminated paper labels, introduced sustainable reuse solutions for intermediate bulk containers and transitioned to recyclable resins.

Furthermore, investigation into improving business-to-business packaging efficiencies has led to a 30 per cent increase in pallet packaging capacity, with this reducing the overall quantity of pallets used and associated shrink wrapping both from suppliers, and to customers.

Independent brewery, Local Brewing Co., says its $400,000 grant from the Coles Nurture Fund will allow it to expand production of its brewing innovation, EcoCrumb, which transforms surplus bread into beer, 100-fold.

The Coca-Cola Company says its acquisition of Billson’s Beverages will enable it to expand into the alcoholic ready-to-drink category. Billson’s went into voluntary administration in July last year.

Five food companies are part of the first cohort to receive funding through the federal Industry Growth Program. Harvest B, DFDU, Cauldron Molecules, Forager Automation, and Seastock join 15 other recipients spanning robotics, medical manufacturing, defence, mining, and agriculture.
